New York City Vacation – The Food

Last week I went to New York City on vacation. I grew up in the NYC suburbs and I love going back to visit. As usual, my mom and I ate completely awesome food.Dim SumWe went for Dim Sum at Dong Yi Feng Seafood Restaurant in Flushing, Queens. Dim SumThe dumplings were delicious! We got a great assortment of food.KebabsMy cousin Marilyn made me these beautiful kebabs.Lunch at Dojo RestaurantMy mom and I stopped at Dojo Restaurant in Greenwich Village for lunch. This has been one of my favorite restaurants since high school and I always try to stop there when I’m in New York.Dojo RestaurantI got the fried fish sandwich with tahini and a side salad – one of my favorite things to eat!Vermicelli with Shrimp and Spring Rolls at Saigon ShackWe found a great Vietnamese Restaurant called Saigon Shack for dinner. I ordered the vermicelli noodles with shrimp and spring rolls and my mom ordered a spicy brisket bahn mi.My Mom Had a Vietnamese SandwichIt was right on MacDougal Street – so fun!DawatWe visited our faviorite Indian restaurant Dawat for lunch. There used to be a Dawat near the town I grew up in and we’d go to the lunch buffet there all the time. That location closed a few years ago but luckily there is a Dawat in Manhattan.Lunch at DawatWe were there during restaurant week and got to share a restaurant week special. It included some of our favorite things – chicken tikka masala and spinach with cheese cubes!Crab Puffs at Lum YenWe finished off the trip with crab puffs and ginger gai pan chicken at Lum Yen in Mamaroneck, NY. It was such a peaceful and relaxing dinner at the end of a great trip!
